Goal 1

 Schools in the city of Surprise are integrated as an important part of our communities.  image024.jpg
Policies
  1. Maintain education as a community and neighborhood focal point.

Goal 2

 Schools within the city of Surprise are given support to provide the highest possible level of education to their students.  image022.jpgimage024.jpg
Policies
  1. Work with public and charter schools to enhance and improve the education system’s performance and reputation.
  2. Work closely with each of the school districts within the Surprise Planning Area to ensure that educational facility needs are met when new development occurs.
  3. All developers requesting project approval must work with the local school district(s) to determine the impact on the school system and implement strategies agreed to by the school district(s) to address the impact.

Goal 3

 Surprise has a well-educated workforce-prepared citizenry.  image026.jpg
Policies
  1. Maintain a variety of educational and training institutions.
  2. Locate and site an appropriate mix of high quality primary, secondary, and post-secondary educational facilities in the city to support the population growth.
  3. Support effective education, training, and workforce development to build a labor force able to perform “knowledge work.”

Goal 4

 Surprise will provide technology that improves the level of education, and how residents are educated.  image024.jpg

  1. Surprise students, teachers, and parents are provided with access to affordable broadband communications as a critical element for advancing education

Goal 5

Policies
  1. Support education based facilities such as museums, science centers, gardens, etc.
  2. Take advantage of public spaces such as city hall, fire stations, and parks as a place to educate the public on native plants, water and energy conservation methods, career opportunities, and other public issues through static displays or special events.
